Queens Park Rangers are to look into Wednesday's match against the Chinese Olympic team after it was abandoned due to a mass brawl.

The game was stopped by referee Dermot Gallagher during the second half and police were called following the incident, which saw China's Zheng Tao knocked unconscious.

The player was taken by ambulance to Hillingdon Hospital with a suspected broken jaw.

"We will conduct our own internal investigation into this matter," QPR chairman Gianni Paladini told the BBC.

"If any of our players are guilty of any wrongdoing then they will be dealt with accordingly.

"At this point in time, however, I really can't say any more than that. We are looking into what happened." SKY

A China Under 23 player had to be taken to hospital after a 30-man brawl forced their friendly against a QPR XI to be abandoned.

The young player — a member of China’s Olympic team — was injured in incredible scenes on Wednesday at Rangers’ Harlington training complex, near Heathrow Airport.

Every player on both sides, plus substitutes, are understood to have been involved in the melee.

They threw punches and aimed kicks at each other amid chaotic scenes halfway through the second half, and Premiership referee Dermot Gallagher was forced to abandon the game.

It is thought the injured player was knocked unconscious in the clashes and suffered a suspected broken jaw, before being taken to hospital by ambulance.

The China Olympic team are based at Chelsea’s training complex for a two-week tour, which could now be in doubt.

A witness said: 'It was mayhem. One of the Chinese players fouled Pat Kanyuka and another one appeared to kick him on the ground. Then all hell broke loose, with players, substitutes and coaches fighting.

"It was like a war - there were punches and even kung-fu style kicking. There must have been 50 people involved."

It is thought the injured player was knocked unconscious in the clashes and suffered a suspected broken jaw, before being taken to hospital by ambulance.

The China Olympic team are based at Chelsea's training complex for a two-week tour, which could now be in doubt. The incident is a huge embarrassment to Chelsea, who invited the team over in an attempt to tap into the lucrative Asian market.
