Former QPR Frank Clarke Turns 65

-
Former QPR forward, Frank Clarke (and elder brother of Alan Clarke) turns 65

Born July 15, 1942, Clarke joined QPR from Shrewsbury for 35,000 pounds, in February 1968 to boost our promotion hopes (after QPR failed to agree terms with another forward, John O'Rourke (who anyway joined QPR a few years later).

Clarke spent two years at QPR, before we sold him to First Division Ipswich for 38,000 pounds in March 1970 after our promotion hopes faded. In the 1969/1970 season, Clarke formed part of a dynamic forward line of Clarke, Barry Bridges and Rdney Marsh which scored 60 goals (in all competitions).

In the 1967/1968 promotion season, Clarke scored 3 goals in 13 games. In QPR's (terrible) First Division season, Clarke scored 5 goals in 23 games. And in the 1969/1970 season he got 9 goals in 31 games + some great cup goals, including two in QPR's "Shock win' against Wolves at Loftus Road in the League Cup (in October 1969)
