Aston Villa winger in hot demand

ASTON Villa winger Wayne Routledge is at the centre of a tug of war between Championship rivals Cardiff City and Queens Park Rangers.
Routledge is impressing on-loan at Cardiff and Ninian Park boss Dave Jones wants to make the move permanent in the January transfer window. But the former England under-21 international has also attracted the interest of Rangers’ manager Paulo Sousa who is lining up a bid for him. Villa boss Martin O’Neill is unlikely to stand in the way of Routledge leaving Villa permanently.
Routledge has failed to make a success of his £1.25m move to Villa from Tottenham in January.
He has not started a Premier League game for Villa - making just two substitute appearances in the top flight.
While Routledge is heading for the exit door, O’Neill is to open contract talks with midfielder Stiliyan Petrov in the New Year...." Sunday Mercury

Striker, Leon Knight has this week been sacked by Rushden & Diamonds FC following continuous breaches of the Club's code of conduct.
Chairman Keith Cousins confirmed "His contract has been terminated without prejudice to our right for a fee. He has been informed of that in writing this week with the approval of the FA, PFA and Football Conference."
Although Knights' contract has been terminated, he cannot move to another Club without an agreement being made with Rushden & Diamonds F.C. until such time as the term of his contract has expired.
Knight played 13 times for the Diamonds scoring 4 times, where the former Chelsea trainee has also played for Milton Keynes Dons, Huddersfield, Brighton, Swansea and Wycombe.
Since being placed on the transfer list in October 2008, Knight has not been involved with the squad at all. Rushden & Diamond

- Flashback: Leon Knight & QPR:
- Leon Knight Joins QPR on Loan
"...QPR boss Ian Holloway has completed his first signing by securing the services of Chelsea's Leon Knight on a month's loan...."

- November 17, 2004 - QPR Official Site - LEON KNIGHT IN TALKS
- Rangers manager Ian Holloway has confirmed that talks are underway with Leon Knight in an attempt to bring the 20-year old striker to Loftus Road.
Less than 24 hours after the Chelsea front man grabbed a brace for loan club Brighton to condemn Rangers to a 2-1 defeat, Holloway admitted that he has been trying to secure the services of Knight for some time and that he is a player he would love to sign.
"We witnessed first hand what this player is capable of last night and he is just the type of player we need to boost our promotion chances.
"Talks have been underway since before the game and I have to say that I am very impressed with him as a young man as well as a footballer. He's a good listener, very mature and I would love to sign him."
Rangers now face a tug-of-war with Brighton for the player's services after both the Rs and the Seagulls agreed a fee with Chelsea. Ollie knows that Knight has some thinking to do.
"Naturally we all understand that he is enjoying his football at Brighton, but I have done my best to show what we can offer him here in terms of potential and I know he will have a very difficult decision to make. But I hope he makes the right decision for us.
"Just like us, Brighton have lost a key player and I am sure they would like to sign him - I just hope that I have been able to convince him that signing for QPR would be a wonderful move for him. But he's a great lad and I wish him all the best whatever happens and whatever he decides."
Knight is one of a number of strikers that Rangers have their eye on, but it is clear that the Chelsea youngster is right at the top of Ian Holloway's wanted list and has been for some time.
Knight will now head back to Brighton and leave the Rangers management to await his decision. QPR
