Evening Standard/Ian Gibb - Neil Warnock raids Crystal Palace for Clint HillFormer Crystal Palace boss Neil Warnock will sign his first Eagle when Clint Hill joins Queens Park Rangers on a free transfer next week.

The Liverpudlian, who can operate at left-back or centre-half, had been expected to return north.

Hill will be the cornerstone of QPR's set‑pieces, as he was for five years at Stoke. The 31‑year-old can throw long, send over teasing free-kicks or get on the end of them with towering, back-post headers.

However, Palace's 19-goal midfielder Darren Ambrose isn't certain to follow.

The 28-year-old said: “I have a year left of my contract and have no reason to move. I love Palace.” Standard
