Ostensible QPR Interest in Martin Woods
Preston and QPR in chase for Doncaster midfielder Woods
Preston and QPR are stepping up their interest in Doncaster's former Sunderland midfielder Martin Woods.
Preston had a £500,000 bid for the 24-year-old specialist rejected in January, while QPR manager Neil Warnock is also a firm admirer.
- QPR are also keen on Portsmouth's Tommy Smith.
Plymouth manager Peter Reid is targeting an ambitious £500,000 move for Japanese World Cup striker Shinji Okazaki. Mail

Mirror/James Nursey - QPR dealt £2.5m Jobi McAnuff blow

- QPR boss Neil Warnock has been stunned by Reading slapping a £2.5million price tag on winger Jobi McAnuff.
- Rangers have had an opening offer of around £1m turned down by the Royals.
- Warnock hopes to get the former Wimbledon trainee from his Championship rivals but insists Reading drop their asking price. Mirror

This is Staffordshire -Crewe Alex: Keeper Shane McWeeney handed chance
- CREWE plan to field former QPR keeper Shane McWeeney in one of their two warm-up games on Monday.
- With first choice Steve Phillips sidelined until September, Chelsea youngster Rhys Taylor will start the season in goal after he was signed on a two-month loan deal.
- But Dario Gradi needs cover on the bench and McWeeney could be retained on a non-contract basis if he impresses in Crewe's pre-season opener.
- The departure of Adam Legzdins to Burton Albion and the release of Academy keeper Danny Platt had depleted Crewe's ranks ahead of Monday's double-header at Evo-Stik Division One South teams Kidsgrove Athletic and Quorn (both 7.30pm).
- McWeeney, aged 20, has yet to make a senior appearance having been confined to reserve-team action at Tranmere and QPR, where he was released after one season.
- Crewe chief scout Neil Baker said: "He'll be training with us for the next few days and then he'll play on Monday night."...This is Staffordshire

GAFFER ON CORNWALL TOUR
- Neil Warnock is relishing taking the R's First Team squad on tour to Cornwall next week - and can't wait to be reacquainted with the Cornish people!
- Over the course of their week-long trip to the West Country, Rangers play Tavistock AFC, Bodmin Town and Torquay United - and the gaffer revealed how much he is looking forward to the R's pre-season campaign really kicking off.
- "The Cornwall tour is all about giving the lads some game time," he told www.qpr.co.uk.
- to start getting minutes under their belts.
- "We're taking 20 odd players with us and they'll all get at least 90 minutes under their belts over the course of the three matches.
- "Pre-season is all about fitness, fitness, fitness! The results of the first few games are largely immaterial."
- Warnock added: "People may question why we've not got a pre-season friendly against a Premier League side.
- "We thought we had Tottenham, but that fell through.

- "But to be honest I'm not too disappointed. I've played sides like that in the past - where you don't get to see too much of the ball - and that can be a worthless exercise."
- Going back to the tour to Cornwall, the R's boss continued: "The facilities are great down there.
- "It will be hard graft for a week, but there'll also be time for some relaxing - a round of golf if the lads fancy it.
- "However, even on the days we play, we'll be doing some physical stuff in the morning of the game."
- Warnock is encouraging Rangers fans to follow their side in great numbers during pre-season, adding: "I'm sure we'll have a few fans following us around and from past experience, there's always a great friendly atmosphere around the grounds.
- "It's like a pre-season party - it's fantastic!
- "It's a neglected part of the football world if you ask me.
- "The Cornish people always really appreciate Clubs like QPR coming down - I've even been asked to do the official opening of the new changing rooms at Tavistock!"
