James Henry is making the most of regular first-team football with his fine form helping Millwall to make a flying start on their return to the Championship. After struggling to feature for Reading last term, Henry – who enjoyed a loan spell with the Lions at the back-end of last year – set up three of Millwall`s four goals in their rout of Hull at The New Den. He posted 44 points – the second highest score of the week – to move second in the Actim Championship Index with a total of 56.
After admitting he was “well hacked off” with the financial situation at Cardiff before the season, Michael Chopra is now doing his talking on the pitch. On the back of 21 goals last season, the former Newcastle and Sunderland striker – following a goal in the League Cup success over Burton – opened his league account this term in the 2-1 win at Derby. He accumulated 37 points in the process to move him into fourth place in the Index with 55 points.
Having netted the goals which secured promotion and clinched the League One title for Norwich last season, defender Michael Nelson is adapting to life in the Championship well. Although the Canaries started the season with a home defeat to Watford – in which Nelson scored – the 30-year-old played his part in a defence which kept a clean sheet as Grant Holt`s injury-time header earned Norwich a 1-0 win at Scunthorpe. Nelson`s rearguard action helped him claim 28 points and he lies 16th in the Index with 47 points.
Jamie Mackie is the new leader of the Actim Index after an impressive 31-point haul from the QPR striker this week. Mackie, who joined the club from Plymouth during the summer, was on the scoresheet for the second successive game as Rangers cruised to a 3-0 win at Sheffield United. Team-mate Hogan Ephraim, who also netted against the Blades, posted 29 points to take a place in midfield in the Actim Team of the Week and ninth place overall. Fitz Hall is the third QPR player to feature in the top 10, lying fifth in the rankings.
Swansea striker Stephen Dobbie posted the highest score of the weekend in the Actim Index. The Scot collected 45 points for his part in the impressive 4-0 win against Preston last weekend. He opened the scoring and claimed an assist in the victory to move up 184 places and sit 12th in the overall list. Highly-rated midfielder Darren Pratley, who has been the subject of renewed speculation regarding a move to Nottingham Forest, took 38 points for the week to join Dobbie and goalkeeper Dorus De Vries in the Team of the Week.
His surname may rhyme with useless, but Watford`s John Eustace has been anything but so far this season. The much-travelled midfielder scored for the second game running against his former club Coventry to help him to an Actim Index total of 26 points – the 16th best score of the weekend. Mirror/John Cross - Clubs line up to blast Bellamy move
- Craig Bellamy's shock move to Cardiff is just the first of many "crazy, mad" transfer deals according to Queens Park Rangers chairman Gianni Paladini.
- Bellamy shocked the whole of football by signing for his home-town club and has in the process annoyed clubs in the Championship because mega-rich Manchester City are bankrolling his move.
- Wales international Bellamy is on a staggering £85,000-a-week and City are paying £65,000-a-week during the striker's loan move to Cardiff.
- That has helped Cardiff sign a top class Premier League striker even though the Championship side have had to fend off four winding-up orders and been under a transfer embargo because of their debts.
- But it has still not stopped Cardiff from pulling off an amazing transfer coup and, despite talk of the League now not being a level playing field, QPR chief Paladini believes there will be many more deals like Bellamy before the window shuts.
- City are also trying to off-load strikers Roque Santa Cruz and Jo who could end up in the Championship, while a number of other Premier League players are expected to be off-loaded for the season as the transfer deadline approaches.
- Paladini said: "It is crazy, it is madness but with the new rules and limits of 25 players in a Premier League squad you will see more and more players coming to the Championship.
- "I agree it's a bit funny but it's not for me to judge Cardiff. It's a great opportunity for a club like Cardiff even if what's happened with Bellamy has taken things to a whole new level.
- "We have signed players who are on £20,000-a-week and only paid £6,000-a-week. But Bellamy is a big, big player and you can see that from the number of big clubs he's played for.
- "But for us, it's all about having the best manager in the league and we have that in Neil Warnock...." Mirror
