Kilburn Times/Ben Kosky (a personal view) - Flavio and Bernie couldn’t care less about QPR fans
Thursday, June 2, 2011

There can’t be many neutral football fans who felt anything but delighted when AFC Wimbledon won promotion to the Football League.
..
It was a triumph for Dons supporters, who refused to roll over when their club was commandeered by money men and literally snatched away from them.

Instead, the proud guardians of their club’s heritage determined to rebuild Wimbledon from scratch and, in less than a decade, have ensured that the ‘real’ Dons will again figure on the League’s fixture list.

For the first time in 15 years, QPR will not be among the Football League’s membership. They are back in the Premier League – something that should be cause for great celebration.

Yet is there actually much for Rs fans to celebrate right now? Like Wimbledon fans before them, they are learning how it feels to have their club taken away.

Unlike Wimbledon, Rangers have not – as yet – been physically transferred to another city but, make no mistake, Flavio Briatore and Bernie Ecclestone would quite readily do that if it suited them.

Whether supporters like it or not is utterly irrelevant to this pair. They have consistently displayed at best indifference and more often total contempt towards QPR fans ever since they arrived in 2007.

That is why there were no consultations with supporters’ groups before the decision to go ahead with outrageous ticket price rises. That is why fans’ forums have remained a relic of the past.

They don’t care. They never did.
Briatore and Ecclestone have only ever had one ambition for QPR – using it as a vehicle for corporate crowing and boasting, rubbing shoulders with the likes of Roman Abramovich, Malcolm Glazer and Mohamed Al-Fayed.

Now they finally have the chance to indulge themselves – although let’s not forget that, for two and a half years, they made a total pig’s ear of it, leaving a trail of sacked managers, sub-standard players and embarrassing public relations disasters in their wake.

Only when the pair adopted a low profile, allowing Amit Bhatia and Ishan Saksena to take centre stage and make the astute decision to recruit Neil Warnock as manager – did QPR begin to enjoy success on the pitch.

Now Bhatia – a man who genuinely wanted to engage with supporters and threw his backing behind the work of the QPR Community Trust – has gone and Saksena, bizarrely, seems to have been the scapegoat for the Alejandro Faurlin fiasco.

Meanwhile, the real culprit, chairman Gianni Paladini, remains safely in his position, and will presumably continue to oversee player recruitment in a way that has already caused several disasters for the club.

As for Warnock, even if he survives the summer, his position is enormously weakened by the departures of Bhatia and Saksena. It is easy to envisage a situation in which Rangers suffer a couple of heavy defeats and the manager finds himself walking the plank.

According to the risible propaganda churned out by the QPR website, Briatore and Ecclestone saved the club – and the implication is that therefore they have the right to do whatever they wish with it, with no duty of care.

Many now realise that, far from saving QPR, this self-serving duo have in fact ruined the club.
I am one of those fans. I have supported Rangers since the age of six, held a season ticket in the Upper Loft and experienced the rare highs and numerous lows with thousands of others.

The Easter massacre of Chelsea, the Milk Cup final, relegation from the Premier League, the FA Cup exit to Vauxhall Motors, the 2003 play-off final and the joy of promotion at Hillsborough.

And, although I have viewed more games from the press box than the paid seats in recent years, it is still a very painful wrench to admit that I no longer want anything more to do with ‘my’ club.

I do not wish to set foot inside Loftus Road while Briatore and Ecclestone remain in control and I will not purchase club merchandise or anything else to further swell their already bulging wallets.

Oh, to be a Wimbledon fan… Kilburn Times

TALKSPORT/By Nick Rostron-Pike - Exclusive - Warnock: We must make Loftus Road a fortress
Neil Warnock has called on QPR fans to make Loftus Road a fortress next season.
Rangers were promoted to the Premier League after a fifteen year absence and the Hoops boss hopes the club’s supporters can help spur on the team.
The former Sheffield United manager has warned fans though that results will go against the team and they'll need to lift their team to bounce back.
“We need to make Loftus Road a fortress, that’s how we’ve got to set our stall out really” Neil Warnock
Speaking to the Alan Brazil Sports Breakfast show, Warnock said: “We need to make Loftus Road a fortress, that’s how we’ve got to set our stall out really.
“The fans play an important part.
“We do well away from home though and we’re aware enough to realise we’re going to get two or three defeats on the trot, but it’s how you bounce back from them.” Talksport

- The 30-year-old Johnson is open to a move across west London - but QPR would struggle to match his £40,000-per-week wages.

QPR Official Site - EXCLUSIVE: MAX SIGNS ON
Young midfielder Max Ehmer has been rewarded for his fine performances whilst on loan with Yeovil Town last season with a one year extension to his current deal.

The 19 year-old German - who mainly featured at centre-half for the Huish Park outfit during his 27 appearances for the League One Club - has put pen to paper on a contract until the summer of 2013.

Speaking exclusively to www.qpr.co.uk, R's gaffer Neil Warnock said: "Max has made great progress over the last few months.

"He had a very productive spell at Yeovil and the feedback we received was very promising.

"The experience he gained there will stand him in good stead to really push on over the next 12 months or so."

Ehmer - who was born in Frankfurt - added: "Last year was a great experience for me at Yeovil.

"I couldn't have asked for anything more really. Terry Skiverton was great with me and the experience of going out on loan will stand me in good stead for the future."

He continued: "I'm delighted that I've signed this new deal and hopefully I can be in and around the First Team squad next year.

"If the Manager decides I need to spend more time out on loan then that's fine. He's the kind of gaffer that likes to give youth a chance though, so hopefully I can show him what I can do over the coming months and really push on.

Yeovils Cider Space Former Yeovil Town loan defender Max Ehmer has signed a new contract with Queen's Park Rangers. With the West London side gaining promotion up to the Premier League this summer, they have been performing a clear-out of players, releasing eight today as they aim to make room for additional signings to keep them in the top flight of English football.

Ehmer, who had a half season loan at Huish Park during the second half of the 2010-11 season, is not on that list, and has stated on his Twitter account this morning that he has signed a new deal at Loftus Road. As yet the length of that contract is unstated, although it makes it clear that despite their new divisional status they still have high hopes for the 19 year old.

Premier League squad rules will force QPR to register a permanent squad of 25 players by the end of August, meaning that it is likely that Ehmer will go out on another long term loan during next season. Strong rumours suggest that manager Terry Skiverton had thrown his hat into the ring when Ehmer's Youth Team coach Marc Bircham came down to Huish Park for the Glovers' Somerset Premier Cup final match.

Of course QPR may prefer Ehmer to try his luck at a higher level as they try to develop him into a fully-fledged first teamer, although there is certainly no harm in Skiverton asking the question. Ehmer appeared to settle well at Huish Park, and speaking to the Western Gazette after the County Cup game, he said that he would be keen to return to Somerset:

"We have just got to see what happens in the summer. I would love to come back here, it is a really good club but we will have to see what happens and I will speak to my agent. I spoke to Marc Bircham when he came to watch Yeovil in the Somerset Premier Cup final. I have told him how much I have enjoyed it here. It has been quite a young squad here with people my age and I have got on with everyone."

Of the eight players released by QPR this summer, full-back Pascal Chimbonda, midfielder Gavin Mahon and Greek winger Georgias Tofas are probably well out of Yeovil's range. However, given the friendship between Skiverton and Bircham that has brought the likes of Ehmer and defender Danny Fitzsimons to Huish Park in recent months, the release of five younger players, in Josh Parker, Lee Brown, Joe Oastler, Elliott Cox and Romone Rose may be of more interest to the Glovers boss as he attempts to bring in new blood. http://www.ciderspace.co.uk/ASP/news/news.asp?NewsItemId=15059

ANNUAL QPR REPORT GUIDE TO/LIST OF QPR FAN SITES

- Below is the annual QPR Report Guide to/list of QPR Fan sites. Hopefully the list is a compehensive and even-complete (but probably not!)list of those QPR site. While QPR Report's own blog and messageboard have been placed at the top of the list, this list is not necessarily in order of from "best" to "worst" (as if there some objective way of measuring those qualities); nor from largest to smallest; nor from oldest to newest. The number of QPR fan sites continues to grow. Some attract sizable numbers of visitors and posters. Some far fewer. Some are long-standing; some are far newer.

Please notify me if there are any corrections or additions to this list (or add facebook or Twitter links) at QPRREPORT@hotmail.com

- If site owners want to provide a sentence or two describing their site, that description will be added to an ammended compilation of QPR sites.
