Paul Warburton/Fulham Chronicle -Mittal won't be held to ransom by Briatore and Ecclestone over sale of QPR
- LAKSHMI Mittal is unlikely to make any fresh bid to take control of QPR – unless majority shareholders Bernie Ecclestone and Flavio Briatore invite him back to the table.
- The richest man in Britain offered £33million for the pair’s stake described as ‘insultingly low’ by Briatore, who wanted closer to £70m for the duo’s controlling interest.
- The fall-out made casualties out of son-in-law Amit Bhatia, who resigned as vice chair, and the departure of chief executive Ishan Saksena.
- Sources close to Mitta believe the former racing chief is holding out for a bigger offer from a man who could buy QPR 200 times over. It looks as if they are in for a long wait.
- The source said: "It’s not good business sense just to pay what someone demands – even if you can afford it. There are no plans to make an improved bid, or sell the Mittal stake in the club (33%)." Fulham Chronicle

KYLE WALKER is set to go back on loan to QPR for next season.
- The 21-year-old Tottenham defender, highly rated by England chief Fabio Capello, had a spell at Loftus Road during the first half of last term before moving on to Aston Villa.
- Walker had planned to return for another campaign under Gerard Houllier. But with the Frenchman no longer at Villa Park, the player wants to link up again with QPR boss Neil Warnock. The Sun

GULF SPONSORSHIP OF QPR ENDS
MARKETING MAGZINE
Queens Park Rangers (QPR) football club is parting company with shirt sponsor Gulf Air after three years, and is on the hunt for a replacement commercial partner to leverage its promotion to the Premier League.

Gulf Air: QPR deal comes to an end
The club is in talks with a number of prospective new sponsors about a multimillion-pound deal, sources have disclosed to Marketing.
- A spokesman for the club confirmed that QPR and Gulf Air have parted company.
- Gulf Air has been QPR's main sponsor since signing a £7m three-year deal in 2008, with the gulfair.com web address appearing on the team's shirts.
- Lotto is the club's technical sponsor.
- QPR is owned by business tycoon Lakshmi Mittal and his family, Flavio Briatore and Formula 1 chief Bernie Ecclestone. Gulf Air is owned by the Kingdom of Bahrain.
- The club, which is managed by Neil Warnock, was promoted to the Premier League after winning the Championship this year" Marketing Magazine

Mirror - Warnock: My job will be safe - as long as I keep winning!
Neil Warnock is sure he will begin next season in charge of QPR but admits his position may come under scrutiny if the team make a poor start.
- High-profile managers such as Marcello Lippi and Claudio Ranieri have been mentioned as possible replacements for Warnock, despite the Yorkshireman guiding the club to the top-flight in his first full season in charge.
- The departure of Warnock's ally Amit Bhatia from the Rangers boardroom raised further questions about the manager's future, but co-owner Flavio Briatore quickly insisted that he had no plans to remove the popular 62-year-old.
- Warnock said today that he is happy with the reassurances he has received from Briatore and co-owner Bernie Ecclestone, but concedes that a slow start to the club's Barclays Premier League campaign may alter that.
- "Every manager is under pressure if they don't get results," Warnock told Sky Sports News.
- "There have been one or two naughty things that have been brought out for whatever reason. Bernie Ecclestone and Flavio have told me right from day one, especially when Amit left the board a couple of weeks ago, that they had no intention of bringing anyone else in.
- "I am sure if I lost six or seven games, then there would be a few more (names) mentioned who were in (for) my position but that is the job we are in."
- Warnock, who also took Sheffield United to the top flight in 2006, is proud of his achievements at Loftus Road, having taken the club from the brink of relegation to Championship winners within 18 months.
- "I am enjoying every minute, and why shouldn't I?" Warnock added.
- "I won the Championship last year in probably the most difficult job I have ever done. In the space of 10 months I created a completely new team and it is great to have a Championship winner's medal." Mirror

QPR1st - Fans Demand Season Ticket Holders Meeting
QPR1st has been informed that a written request has been received by the secretary of the Official Supporters Club undersigned by thirty members calling on the Club to call an Extraordinary General Meeting, as per section 3.8 of the Queens Park Rangers Official Supporters Club Constitution and Rules. The OSC is now consulting with the Club as to how such a meeting could take place.
- This raises the prospect of the Club hosting a meeting which potentially hundreds or thousands of disgruntled QPR season ticket holders would have an entitlement to attend, and which we are confident the OSC will ensure is held at a time most suitable for its members.
- QPR1st would of course welcome the Club arranging such an event and will use such a meeting to call for a 'one member one vote' system of electing the OSC Committee, as well as to challenge the Club's decision to end direct consultation with independent fans groups.
- Nevertheless we can not help but suspect that if the OSC was to have a Committee democratically elected by season ticket holders, then the OSC would very quickly join the LSA and QPR1st on the Club's ever increasing list of persona non grata." QPR1st

Willesden and Brent Times - Former skipper says QPR will struggle unless they spend
- Former QPR captain Terry Fenwick expects his old club to be fighting a relegation battle next season unless there is substantial investment in the team.
- Fenwick was skipper of the last Rangers side to win promotion to the top flight, in 1983 – and they followed that up finishing fifth the following season to qualify for the UEFA Cup.
- But the 51-year-old, who now coaches in Trinidad & Tobago, feels the current QPR side – in common with the majority of teams promoted to the Premier League – will have to concentrate solely on survival.
- “For most promoted clubs, they have a flurry of results in those first 10 or dozen games and pick teams off, but then people start to find them out and they take a few defeats on the chin,” Fenwick told the Times.

“Look at the way Blackpool started last season, or Hull a couple of years ago, and how it ended up – unless the resources are there, that’s the way it’s going to be.

“I think Stoke City, under Tony Pulis, are an exception to the rule. They may not be pretty to watch, but they’ll always do enough to hang on to Premier League status.”

Rangers have made numerous inquiries about players since their promotion was confirmed, but have yet to add any new faces to the squad.

By contrast, the clubs who accompanied the Rs into the top division have already strengthened their forward lines, with Norwich forking out around £4m to sign James Vaughan from Everton and Millwall’s Steve Morison.

And Swansea, who beat Reading to reach the Premier League for the first time, paid £3.5m for Danny Graham after outbidding QPR for the Watford frontman’s services." Willesden and Brent Times
