TROY Hewitt says he is determined to remind Neil Warnock just why he signed him when he returns to Harrow Borough tonight.
Premier League new boys QPR make the short trip to Harrow Borough as part of the deal that took Hewitt to Rangers in February, but opportunities to impress boss Warnock have been few and far between for the 20-year-old, who has had to make do with reserve team action.
However, just a year ago, Hewitt was turning out for Ryman Division One North outfit Ilford, before he was signed by then Harrow Borough manager David Howell last summer.
And Hewitt says he owes Borough everything for giving him a chance to stake a claim to play in the Premier League with Rangers.
“I only went to Harrow this time last year as I was playing a level below with Ilford,” said Hewitt. “David Howell was in charge then, but Peter Rogers (chairman) is still there and I am very grateful for the opportunity that they provided me with.
“Though Harrow have changed their manager, I still know a few of the players there and I am looking forward to Friday.”
That will offer Hewitt a chance to recapture the blinding form that helped Harrow Borough into the First Round proper of the FA Cup – and saw the Football League scouts flocking to Earlsmead.
Hewitt has fallen further down the pecking order at QPR after they signed England international Jay Bothroyd, but he is not entertaining the prospect of going out on loan.
“It is not completely in my hands as I can only do my best,” he added. “I have not spoken about that with him (Warnock). I just have to keep working hard and hopefully I will get my chance. Patience is a virtue as they say and nothing will happen overnight for me.” Fulham Chronicle

Warnock is apparently keen on Tottenham right-back Naughton. The England under-21 player came through the ranks at Sheffield United during Warnock's spell there as manager. Having failed to break into the Spurs team and having been sent out on loan in recent seasons it would seem likely Harry Redknapp will allow the 22-year-old to move on.
Despite QPR's owners being among the wealthiest in the game, their transfer war chest remains similar to that of their fellow promotees to the Premier League.

Curle believes surrounding Adel Taarabt with the right people
has helped control his fiery nature.
The former Spurs star is known for explosive outbursts on and off the field but was QPR’s top scorer last year during their promotion to the Premier League.
And Curle has backed the Moroccan midfielder to produce the goods in the top-flight - with the help of his experienced team-mates.
Speaking to the Alan Brazil Sports Breakfast, the Rangers assistant manager said: “You have to surround Adel Taarabt with the right people. We were lucky we had people like Clint Hill, Bradley Orr and Shaun Derry.
“They are seasoned professionals who have a level of acceptance with some of the things that Adel did. They have never been able to play in a team with someone of his ability.
“That’s the measure. Along the way we try and educate Adel and bring him our way but sometimes you have to let him go his way.
“Adel knows when he goes on the football pitch he has to make something happen, he’s not focussing on anything else. He knows he’s got to produce.”

In this, his second entry, Jones reflects on a busy opening week of pre-season training ...
'Pre-season has been underway for a week now and I must admit that I've enjoyed it immensely.
Especially as we've returned to training with the prospect of Premier League football next season, and that is fantastic for everybody involved with the Club.
The players are all talking about who we'll be playing next season, and so are the coaches. Even at my age, it's still exciting!
If you lose that, then you might as well be out of the game.
The lads also look sharp and in excellent condition. But the modern day footballer doesn't get unfit anyway, unless they're stupid!
The close season breaks are shorter these days as well, so players can't really get into a situation where they can get unfit.
Jay Bothroyd and Kieron Dyer joined the Club on Wednesday and, I must admit, it was mixture of relief and excitement to finally get those two in.
There was competition for both players from a lot of big Clubs.
Neil Warnock's worked really hard on Jay and has kept in touch with him throughout the summer on a daily basis - and I think he has appreciated that.
When Neil first went in pursuit of Jay, I wasn't sure whether we would get him.
I was aware that there were two other very big Premier League Clubs interested, and knew the type of finances that they would be able to throw at him.
But Neil got through to the lad and, if Jay's going to be a success in the Premier League, there's no better place than QPR for him to do that.
Neil has a way of convincing players that this is the right place to be, irrespective of other offers that a player may have.
There's only one reason we got Jay - and that is Neil Warnock.
We've got two in now and it's a case of don't panic.
We've got people on our radar and there's still a healthy amount of time to bring new players to the Club.
And you can be guaranteed that Neil will be working tirelessly to do so.
For the meantime, it's off to Harrow Borough on Friday for our first game of pre-season, and I must admit that I'm looking forward to seeing the lads back out there again.
We took young Troy Hewitt from Harrow and this is a way of thanks to them for that.
I'm quite excited about it. It's the first time that we'll see the players as a team again, and we will take a strong squad.
It will be great also for Harrow, because hopefully we'll give them a full house.'
